DRAGON on the tracks

During a cere­mony held at War­szawa Wschod­nia rail­way sta­tion on June 9, 2016, Newag S.A. officially han­ded over to Fre­igh­tli­ner PL the first out of five DRAGON loco­mo­ti­ves.
These are cutting-edge, 6-axle elec­tric loco­mo­ti­ves equ­ip­ped with an addi­tio­nal die­sel engine for ope­ra­tions on non-electrified end lines, and at sidings. These loco­mo­ti­ves were fully desi­gned and manu­fac­tu­red in Poland.


ECM Certificate for Freightliner PL

Freightliner PL has successfully conducted the process of certification of entities in charge of maintenance (ECM), and a result has been issued  ECM Certificate by Office of Rail Transport (UTK), valid till May 2018.

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. to acquire Freightliner Group

Freightliner PL orders Dragons from Newag


EUR 17.5m will cost five electric locomotives ordered by FPL to handle increasing volumes.

Dragons ordered by Freightliner PL are 6-axle locomotives of 5 MW power adapted to pulling heavy freight trains with a mass exceeding 4 thousand tonnes. They will be equipped with a Dual Power module, i.e. an extra 520 kW diesel engine to provide service to clients also on non-electrified end lines and at sidings without using additional shunting locomotives (last mile module). The first three locomotives will be delivered in May 2016 and the remaining two by the end of July 2016. more
